When you live in a small rural community life can get
a little complicated and sometimes scary.
Then your neighbors show up . . . and help you out.
Saturday night we attended a small community benefit for one of their
young men who had been hurt in a work accident.
Everyone volunteered their time and work... even ELVIS . . .and
he had a little sidekick (Elvis trainee I think).
Look at that shiner ! ! !
It was great and we had a blast.
I’m sharing some of the photos I got.
This was held in the local volunteer fire station and yes,
that is a Christmas tree in the background,
I’m sure they were just getting ready a little early :-) ! ! !
On a sidenote, this little community was completely destroyed
a couple of years ago by tornadoes.
Peeps, this is The “Real” America!!!
. . .but maybe not the “real” Elvis . . .
Hey Linda, look at your little sister!!!

Yes---that is REAL America.... Don't think Obama nor anyone much in Congress knows what REAL America really is... It is people helping people.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you all had a wonderful evening... I'm sure Elvis and his 'trainee' were GREAT.
Hugs,
Betsy
That really makes me feel proud! Thanks for sharing this with all of us and helping us to remember what makes this country GREAT! ♥
ReplyDeleteLOL! How fun and real America is the best!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I loved "visiting" your town and seeing another shining example of Real America ... people coming together for the greater good is what we're all about and your post is most uplifting. Elvis looks like a hoot too! I'll bet it was a fun event. Thanks for sharing and for stopping in at Cottage and Creek today.

Real America knows how to pull together - that is very moving.

You've done a great job of capturing the real strength and spirit of America. Thanks for sharing this with us.
ReplyDeleteSmall town America.....great pictures...America the GREAT!
ReplyDeleteVery heart warming! Reminds me of the song Little Pink Houses for You and Me! Also my boys think they saw Santa in a pic!
ReplyDeleteYep, this looks like it could be where we live. Last year we found ourselves eating brats at the fire house...a fundraiser for the track team that didn't have uniforms. I love that spirit...the down to earth small town help. I also love your photos...you captured the mood and fun of the day!

Yes, the real America! More people should attend things like this-it really does your heart good. It is a double blessing-one for who you are helping and one for you!
