…I like bread & butter, I like toast and jam…

Gollum, of Designs by Gollum is hosting Foodie Friday...the theme is "finger food"....

I am enjoying my homemade sour dough bread toasted with some jam and orange juice…toast is finger food isn’t it???

….The Newbeats…I think they sang it…I like bread and butter, I like toast and jam…now we can hum this all day!!!!!!

… the house is quiet and the dogs are still sleepy…Zoe doesn't look sleepy, does she???...so maybe Zoe is just "quiet"...

Buddys eyes are closed….

I’m just sitting here looking at some memorabilia from my parents… Both of their military service pictures and flags…

Some things from my Mom’s military service are interesting. Her official handbag, I think it probably had a shoulder strap, is still in remarkably good condition. Her hat is made of wool and piped in a yellow trim and it’s pretty heavy. My Mom hated hats, any kind of hat but I guess she was required to wear this one. To read more about my Mom click here.

The yellow/gold flag is the one she carried as a flag bearer. Somewhere I have a picture of her marching in formation on a parade ground with her unit…I’ll have to look for that picture. The little flag is obviously hand stamped and lettered and it's pretty fragile.

My Dad, like almost everyone of his generation, served this country in the Navy during World War II. He was a diesel mechanic on the USS Cooner.

The only mementos that I have from him are the picture, flag and his pocket watch. He had a personality larger than life and I chuckle with thoughts about him every day.

Thanks for joining me for a quiet morning with my memories…and if anybody has a good sourdough bread recipe please let me know, I don’t think I like this one very much…
