Flowers and A Big No No

image

A cloudy day, an old chair and some flowers in my backyard.

image

These are my pretty pressed wood chairs.

They had gotten pretty dirty.

image

So in all of my infinite wisdom

I Powerwashed both of them!!!

The dirt came off but so did the paint.

The powerwashing was NOT a good idea!

I don’t think that wonderful chalk paint could save these

So, now I have two---

  2. It might be worth a try.. painting those lovely chairs again..
I have the same white cloth as you, and your photo makes me want to bring it out to our deck too!

  3. I agree with Millie above, a new paint job might make the chairs just lovely. Your flowers are pretty , the color is one of my favorites for flowers.

  4. Hi Becky, yes---Power Washing is powerful. I take off more and more of the stain we have on our decks every time I use the power washer. BUT--Since I hate that stain (which looked like paint to me) --I'm trying to remove it... (Don't ever get your deck stained --unless it is just a protection for the wood.)

Sorry about your chairs... Paint them!!!
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  7. Oops...sorry Becky, I giggled when I saw the chairs. I would have done the same thing. Your mosaics are beautiful.

  8. Those chairs are lovely! Maybe you could powerwash it all off and repaint them? Makes an interesting design though :) The flowers are so pretty.

  9. Oh oh........that's the sort of thing I'd do! I'll bet another coat of paint will sort things out.

  11. Aw jeez, I actually like your "rustic" chairs the way they are... :) Such a beautiful tablescape and flowers, too!

  12. It's all in how you look at it, isn't it? Perspective!

  13. Hi Becky! Those are some pretty chairs! I think you could probably grab a can of spray paint and go to town on those chairs.

  16. Beautiful pictures. And the chairs. . .well, I kind of think they look shabby and chic! But you can always re-paint them. They looked so lovely in your mosaic. Thanks for sharing. Karie

  22. Oh no! The power washer is great but it is really powerful isn't it? Well, they look clean now :)

  23. Oh hon, you did clean them very powerfuly!!! Now, maybe you can paint them in an outside, patio color, but if you prefer, they can stay rustic like they are now!
    Lots of hugs.

  25. You made your chairs instant antiques, Becky! I hope you can repaint them. Maybe make them white or a pretty red this time around?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Your flowers are such a vibrant color and the chairs look like what some people do on purpose to make them look 'chippy antiques'! I think repainting them red would be pretty, too! ♥

  27. I've had a few power washer incidents myself....I would just repaint them...all clean and new!

  28. Been there....done that...lesson learned! :)

  29. Who knew...? I quite like the chairs with their new aged and rustic appearance, especially outdoors with the pristine white tablecloth and vibrant flowers. It's a great story to tell and you can always repaint them later if you want! ~ Yvonne (your new follower)

  30. I love those chairs either way. The power washer is a wonderful and dangerous tool - we've found that out too. My husband offered to power wash a friends' wood deck with our new 'tool' and ended up etching lines through the wood with the washer :(
