Good bye…

I recently attended a small meeting of alumni from my high school. We were planning an alumni event for our county-wide high school. It was a fun meeting and we got to visit with some friends that we hadn’t seen for many years.

Vernie, our friend and former classmate died four days later and was buried today…

How sad we have been… how lonely,

how lucky…to have known and enjoyed a good friend,

thank you God…for giving us this friend for the years that were too short for us but just right for you.

Help us understand.

  1. Oh, Becky! I was not expecting that -- how sad. I am so sorry. He looks as if he was someone who really enjoyed life and laughing, too.

My sympathies to you and your friends.
We just never know, do we?

  9. May he rest in peace. I am sorry for your loss.
I see he was Vietnam vet. What a disgrace those soldiers were treated so badly when they returned..

  12. I'm glad you had a chance to be with him and relive happy memories before he died. Reunions for me are becoming notable for the people who are no longer there.

  13. Oh my goodness! The same thing is happening to me! So many of my friends are beginning to go and and it is a little frightening. They all seem so young. What an awful feeling to call a friend and find they are no longer there.
I missed the last few class reunions...and my friends from high school are scattered. I am in contact with several still...and my best friend in the world and her husband are still alright.
My husband was the first to go at age 63. No one would have guessed he would the one to leave us first. He was the strongest and most healthy!
No more school reunions for me I think.
Take good care! :) You sound like a lovely person to know!

My high school graduating class is having a reunion this coming summer (50th). I hope to go to it.

    Hugs,
    Betsy
