The Mystery of the …

Have you ever just wondered about something…how it began, who started it, why it was started…

Well, this is something I have wondered about….

A local restaurant has these jars of buttons …you can see the restaurant tickets in the foreground…they’ve always been mysterious to me (the jars of buttons, not the tickets)…I’ve heard the employees tell that the buttons were bought at an auction…I’d love to know their real story…

The little pint fruit jar on top of the big jar gives you an idea of the size of these glass jars…I’m sure they hold several gallons…gallons of buttons…

Button Soup anyone???

  1. My mom always loved jars filled with buttons...and so does her daughter; the only difference is that her daughter doesn't have the great desire to own all that she see's :). My mom had jars upon jars of buttons and so did my Gram. Growing up, I'd spill them out onto a pan and rummage through the treasures and the wonderful colors.

Buttons are pretty neat. Oh...the memories you've created for me. Thank you!!

  3. My mother also kept buttons in a jar---but never THAT large. I don't understand why a restaurant has that big collection though.. Is the name of the restaurant, BUTTONS????? ha ha

  4. Oh, you should dig deep and find out about the buttons! I'd like to know too! My mother sewed when I was little and kept her spare buttons in jars. I used to play with them!

  6. Buttons in a jar are so colorful and make wonderful decoration. I've got tons of buttons in neat little containers organized by color, but I'm thinking of dumping them in a jar because they look so nice that way... I guess the only problem would be that when I actually need a button I'd have to dump the whole jar and go pecking through them all. -Jackie
