Easter Centerpiece

My pet peeve is large, tall centerpieces for an actual meal, I love these gorgeous centerpieces…just not when we sit down to eat…

IMG_2658

I shopped last week for something that I could use that would be low enough for pleasant conversation…

image …and here’s my Met Monday contribution…

IMG_2662

This is what I got…a coat rack…it was perfect…lots of little ceramic birdies came to nest here…

IMG_2683

Recognize anyone??? That’s Cheech and Chong (straight from Target)…

IMG_2685

…and these little cuties…they were filled with edible Easter grass and tiny jellybeans (Sorry they got eaten before I got a picture)

IMG_2676

IMG_2673

These little ceramic birdies are actually candleholders…perfect for a tealight on a future occasion…

IMG_2672

My son’s favorite lemon pound cake decorated with more edible Easter grass…

There’s always Blue at my house…somewhere…so here’s my contribution for Blue Monday…

IMG_2651

…and this guy…well, he cooked this….

IMG_2689

…it was delicious and we had lots of leftovers…but most of all I think I’ll keep “the guy”…he’s a Renaissance man…

IMG_2684

…and this girl…well, she made an Easter “basket” for her little brother…he’s 24 and loves beef jerky…(see her curls…they’re natural)…

IMG_2041-1

…the Easter Basket “recipient”…These two make my heart leap with joy because they love each other so much and treat each other so respectfully…and to sweeten the whole deal is this next guy…

IMG_2690

…a son-in-law that we love as one of our very own (he didn’t get an Easter basket but he sure enjoyed that ham…)

IMG_2701

…and I am one happy camper…my beautiful family was blessed to be together on this most special of holidays…the celebration of “Resurrection”

thank you for allowing us to be a small part of your lives

Becky

  1. No wonder you're a happy camper: you had a beautiful family time around a special table filled with a loving family. It doesn't get any better, and I love your idea for a centerpiece! Thanks for sharing. Happy Blue Monday.

  2. Hi, Becky, thank you for stopping by & for the tips on the paste wax. Sounds like a great idea. Do you only use it on lighter painted pieces or how does that work. Very nice to meet you, glad you had a happy Easter too.

  5. What a cute post and how wonderful that you were surrounded by your children and spouse! So what is the secret to raising siblings who surely love each other as much as yours do...I have a 4 and a 2-year old who currently have a love/hate relationship (the 2-year old loves to pull the 4-year olds hair which she hates!). LOL

    Blessings to you from Kansas,
    Valerie

  8. Becky, YOU are definitely, at least partly responsible, for rasing such fine young adults! I do believe that hands-on parenting is the key, but as you said, to a certain extent it is their temperments, personalities, etc. I hope that my two grow up to be as close as your two.

    Blessings,
    Valerie

  9. Hi Becky! How nice to see pictures of your lovely family and the smiles on their faces! Now your table was just so lovely! Love all the birdies. And speaking of birdies, since yo have the salt and peppers from Target, you must join us on the 15th for Target birdies on holiday. Come back over to my blog and click on the little picture at the right hand top and it will take you to Susan's blog Between Naps on the Porch and you can find out all about it!
    Be a sweetie,

  15. Hi Becky...

Just read the sweet note that you left on my little bluebird nest vignette...thank you so much for coming by for a visit!

Well my friend, this is my very first time to visit your blog...I looked down through some of your past posts...you have a lovely and delightful blog! I hope to do more visiting in the future so I'm adding you to my list of "blog follows"...so nice to meet you! And...hehe!...I feel as though I've met your entire family on today's post! It was so nice seeing so many photos of such sweet, happy people! It's certainly evident that you have a very special and loving family...I can see why they just fill your heart up!!! After all, just how many 24 yr. old sisters still make up and Easter "goody" basket for their brother...I just thought that was soooo sweet! Not to mention, that "Renaissance" man of yours...Oooh, that ham does look delicious! Any man that cooks...is definitely a "keeper" in my book! Hehe!

Loved your pretty Easter tablescape! What a grand idea to use that coat rack for your little birdies to nest on! I love it!!! Love those pretty little bird candleholders...they're such pretty colors! The entire table is beautifully done!!!

    Warmest wishes,
    Chari

  20. From the looks of your beautiful pictures, you truly had a wonderful Easter! Spending special times with the ones we love is what life is all about isn't it.

It's so great that your two children care for each other so much. My son and daughter love each other and respect each other greatly too. I only hope their relationship grows deeper as they grow older! What a blessing for a parent!

I'm loving birds these days so I loved your tablescape. What a warm, welcoming table you prepared.
