Veterans and Sequoyah Caverns…
Sounds like a strange combination???
My hubby is a Navy retiree (25 years with the submarine fleet) and we
recently had the opportunity to visit with someone he served with many years ago.
Roy was also with the sub fleet and is also retired.
This is where the Sequoyah Caverns site comes into my title.
Roy’s family has owned the Sequoyah Cavern & Homestead land since 1831.
He grew up on this land and spent his childhood exploring these caverns.
Can you imagine having your own cave to explore???
Michael and Roy Lee---retired submariners…
These photos are all the surrounding buildings on the site,
sorry I didn’t get photos of the inside of the cave, I’ll have to go back to get cave photos.
The cave was beautiful and it wasn’t a difficult walk through it like some caves I’ve visited.
They host weddings and also do sleepovers for groups.
In December they host a Christmas Nativity Pageant, complete with animals.
BTW…The donkey got booted for this year…
This is the actual cave…the red gates are adorned with “bats”!!!
Michael and Roy Lee had a wonderful visit while I chased this stupid
peacock around to get a photo!!!
Hey, maybe that’s what they were laughing about!!!
Here is the resident goat and donkey
(who won’t be appearing in the Christmas Pageant this year).
Honoring all of our veterans today!!!
Nandina Berries
If my life was any more exciting…
I don’t think all of my dear blog friends could stand it…

I Fought The Dust And The Dust Won!!!
Michael got me a new lens for my baby (Canon Rebel) today…
Thank you Sweetie…these are some test shots!!!
It was a wonderful surprise!!!
Sorry about the stack of puppy pads in the background…
just pretend it’s something lacy or romantic looking
My Pumpkin Soup Tureen set on a framed mirror…
My focus sure was off but I do like the background bokeh !!!
The learning curve here….dddduuuuhhhh don’t ever take a photo with this
lens without dusting first!!! Pretend it’s fairy dust…
we have a new interstate coming through our area and dust is thick…
the construction is in two areas within a mile or so of our
house and we have had very little rain this year.
I fought the dust and the dust won!!!
Orange “fire”…
The cool weather has given my outside ferns a new lease on life but tonight it is
supposed to be in the twenties so I brought them in.
I thought I would prolong their lives for a little while…
I won’t keep them for long since they tend to crowd me too much.
I always hate to see them die every winter.
Blooms on my Christmas Cactus…maybe it’s a Thanksgiving Cactus???
Christmas/Thanksgiving Cactus, summer ferns and Halloween Pumpkins…
Just call it multi season decorating…
I like my new lens!!!
