The Summer of ‘69..

The summer of ‘69 brought a lot of history to our country. The first walk on the moon and Woodstock are two of the most notable events. The JFKennedy & Barstow Class of 1969 entered the world among psychedelic drugs, the height of space exploration and bohemian dress.

This is Astronaut “Buzz” Aldrin Jr. posing for a photograph taken by Astronaut Neil Armstrong.

This photo is taken from USA Today and is a NASA shot via AP. The photo was made on July 20, 1969.

Another historical event that took place on August 15-18, 1969 was a music festival, billed as "An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace & Music". The name Woodstock might be a little more familiar. Thirty two acts performed at the three-day festival and included Blood, Sweat and Tears, Three Dog Night, the 5th Dimension, Rare Earth, the Grass Roots, Arlo Guthrie, Joan Baez, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and Canned Heat.

Barstow-JFK, Barstow, California – Class of 1969 Reunion

The class of 1969 of Barstow, California met this past weekend for their fortieth reunion. My husband is a member of that class and we attended their reunion at the Aquarius in Laughlin, Nevada. I don’t think they’ve actually achieved adulthood according to my photos!!!
