October Roses And The Grunge

I haven’t had roses to bloom here all summer…between the sizzling temps and the summertime influx of Japanese

Beetles…my roses were just stalks with a few leaves on them this year…

Now…October…they still don’t have leaves but they’ve actually been happy enough to bloom some…

This little bouquet is the only one I’ve had this year so I have to get a lot of mileage from this one!!!

All of the textures are from the Square Texture Set at Shadowhouse Creations…

It’s not a big bouquet but I sure have enjoyed it!!!

This is the photo I started with in my Picasa program.

Cropped and lightened…

I added three cropped images to a photo from yesterday and made a collage/mosaic

using the Picture Pile selection

under the settings tab…

Save the collage/mosaic…

I added the “grunge” by superimposing a texture over my mosaic…

To superimpose the texture…

download a texture (this is one of the “Square Textures Set” from here

Treat this texture as if it is just another photo and put it in your Picasa selection bar along with the collage/mosaic you want it superimposed over…

You will have two selections marked with a green check…

Click “Collage”

Now select Settings tab..

Now select superimpose…

ta da!!!

Save by selecting “Create Collage”

These textures are designed for photoshop but they worked with my Picasa!!!

It may be just a little addictive!!!

Photo Editing And No Supper…

I was hand washing various things that were setting around this morning and I decided that I would decorate my buffet and photograph it…well, there goes any housework for the rest of the day!!! It is a good thing I had already gotten the dishes washed and the laundry done or it would still be staring me in the face tonight…No supper plans yet…should have done that first thing…

This is what I started with…

an old green lemon juicer

an old clear lemon juicer

an old blue Ball jar with the lid

a lacy little apron I bought this summer

a doily

all of which had been freshly dusted and the glassware washed…

How does that stuff get so dirty when I keep it put away???

I straightened it some in Picasa…not all the way…I would have lost the top of the jar if it had been completely straight…

I lightened by about 90 percent…(of the fill light band)

I added about 20 percent of the highlight band…

Then I added about 25 percent of the shadow band…I wanted to get a good shadow of the blue jar on the wood…

I went just a smidgen (technical term:-)) toward the blue spectrum (left side) of the color temperature in order to get a little bit more blue in the jar…

Then I couldn’t decide how to crop…

Our Favorite Pizza Eatery, TFA and A Political Meeting (plus an elusive guest)!!!

We attend several meetings on a regular basis here in our corner of the world…a lot of them are held right here in this little restaurant. They have a meeting room that accommodates probably 50 people and it works well for meetings.

These two ladies greeted us when we got there!!!

 

These girls make a mean loaded potato pizza…which is my very favorite…

Hubby is crazy about the Snapoli!!!

Dessert…our favorite is cinnamon breadsticks!!!

 

This lovely lady is Miss Hattie Lou…

I’ll tell you a little about her…

She owned the most popular floral shop in this town for decades and decades…

She furnished the flowers for my first wedding

in 1970 and then did the same for my daughter’s wedding in 2000.

She knows everyone in this little town.

I’ve laughed at her stories about how a “drunk” Father of the bride got locked in his car (accidentally of course) during the ceremony and how she handled little demon flower girls

and ring bearers!!! Ohhhh, the stories this lady has to tell!!!

She was a good friend of my Mom’s and it is so special to get to see her these days!!!

Miss Hattie Lou is greatly loved and respected in our town!!!

 

This is Miss Marlene!!!

She is also a life long resident of our town…know by everyone and loved by all!!!

 

Miss Marlene and Miss Hattie Lou have been known to get into a few “incidents” together…

 

Yall should know about fine Southern Ladies…they live life with a lot of Fire!!!

 

This is Mrs.. Tina Elgin and Mr.. Bill Sanderson…

Mrs.. Elgin is Mr.. Sanderson’s campaign manager…boy has she got a job!!! Mr.. Sanderson is the candidate for State Representative of our District…

We attended this meeting in order to hear him speak to a group of Tennessee Firearms Association members.

 

We met some great people at this meeting…The couple on the top left lived in California

for many years and Hubby enjoyed talking with them since he is a native Californian.

The man with the beard in the bottom right photo is the owner of “Armed Response Training

Academy”…that is where you go to get a certified by the state to carry a handgun. He

is all about safety and training.

 

Guys are always so happy to get their photo made (not)!!! LOL…

 

I went back in my files to get this shot of Mr.. Bill Sanderson and his lovely wife Valerie…

somehow I failed to get

her photo tonight!!!

 

This past Tuesday night we also helped to host a political meeting at our friends’ house…

these are a few shots from this meeting…

 

Miss Sue made a “to die for chocolate sheet cake”…

yes I asked for some slices to take home with me…I have no pride!!!

 

These were delicious!!!

 

We were all on our best behavior!!! Do you see why???

 

This guy is so elusive when it comes to my camera…

and he comes to “every” meeting we have…

see how clear all the photos look until I try to crop a photo of him…

see how fuzzy they get…do you think it’s something strange???

I am determined to get a good photo of this elusive gentleman!!!

 

We furnished  a few hors dourves and it was a great meeting…and I behaved!!!
