People…

Many of you know how much I love to photograph people…I try to never miss an opportunity and people have been so nice to let me photograph them for my blog…This is Carol and her Mother…aren’t they beautiful??? You’ve seen Carol on my blog before…here…

This is Dr. Ron Kirkland, Carol’s hubby…he is running for a political office here in NW Tennessee…and he is a native of the little town where we live!!!

We attended a debate last night featuring Dr. Ron and the other three candidates…The debate was sponsored by the Obion and Weakley County and Young Republican Parties here in West Tennessee. We thank them for this opportunity...

Can I just say that we are so fortunate to have four of the most talented and moral men I’ve ever known running for this Republican slot.

It is so hard to decide between them and it keeps me going over their professional attributes in my mind a lot.

Dr. Ron is a well known physician who practices in Jackson, Tn. He is a member of a very notable clinic there in Jackson.

He has held many professional positions in the state and on the national level.

This is Mr. Stephen Fincher, he is a well known area farmer who lives in Frog Jump, Tn….yep…how could you not love a farmer from Frog Jump.  In addition to farming he is a member of a prominent family who is known for their Gospel Singing, talent too!!!

 

This is Dr.George Flinn…Dr. Flinn is from the Memphis area and is quite well known in the West Tennessee area. He is also a small business owner in our area. He owns quite a few area radio and television stations (they number in the forties I believe) so he is quite well versed in business as well as health care. He is also very personable and quite proud of his family…he emailed me a great photo of his grandson and dog swimming together!!!

I love this photo of Dr. Kirkland and Randy Smith talking. Randy is the fourth candidate running in this primary!!!

Political foes??? I think not…all of these men are committed to getting this country out of the proverbial ditch that we are in.

I’m certain they have all made sacrifices we will never know about in order to run in this contest.

 

Mr. Randy Smith is the fourth candidate that we heard last night. Randy is known for packin’…  Packin’ his copy of the Constitution of our country!!!
He has some pretty good ideas and is the most animated speaker we had. He was pretty difficult to get a good photo of since he used his hands and arms to punctuate his remarks. He had the audience in stitches quite a few times and actually remained quite serious and enthusiastic at the same time. I think that takes a lot of talent!!!  Randy is a chef. The chef of a very popular restaurant in Jackson, Tn. It’s very popular because his food is very good!!! The name of the family owned restaurant is Baudo’s.

Hello Sunshine!!!

My hubby leaves for work at about 5:40 a.m. and this morning he told me about this little field of sunflowers he drives by every morning…Sleepily, I asked for directions and when he thought the best time to photograph it…UGGGHHHH… he said right now…
So about 6:30 I was able to get enough caffeine in my bloodstream for my eyes and camera to focus together and headed out.
Now my dogs were not happy with me leaving this early. They both had allergy shots yesterday and preferred me to crawl back into bed to snuggle with them… I thought that was a good idea also…
We don’t have acres of sunflowers growing around here since this is prime corn country. A small strip of sunflowers growing alongside a cornfield that is accessible by my little car is rare.

See my blue arrows in the upper right corner…I was greeted by this…well, hello sunshine…happy to see you also!!!

Enjoy the rest of my eye candy!!!

These aren’t the large hybrid type sunflowers, they were probably planted for dove hunters…

Wouldn’t it be glorious to wake up to this view every morning…

I Enjoyed A Play Date Today

I took the day off from the chaos in my life today and played with my Canon Rebel…chaos meaning my upside down house…weedy garden…
playful puppies and all those necessary errands…everything but the dogs can wait until tomorrow…I’m having a “Becky” day…
I’m staying home, dragging “stuff” onto the front porch and maybe the yard later in the day and playing “photographer”…ok I can dream too!!!
Since my house is upside down waiting for a young man to finish my painting that I started and now can’t finish, I’m gonna play…

It’s a little basket from the thrift store…with a star in the wire handle!!!! cute…ehhh…it doesn’t take a lot to entertain me!!!

Now it has a little bouquet of daisies and some crepe myrtle blooms and tied with a scrap of flag fabric…

Here is the star on top of the basket in this cropped photo…I pulled up some fresh variegated ivy to place around the little patriotic wreath…

the wreath is from Hobby Lobby and I don’t know what it’s made of but I just love it…

beautiful table topper thingy that I bought at a thrift store in Wisconsin….let me tell ya…Wisconsin had some good thrift stores!!!

Thoughtfully Blended Hearts…heart plate…ivy accent in heart shape…get it??? Please!!!

…does it look a little more “heart like” here??? …well, maybe that wasn’t such a good idea…

I put the whole shebang under my little red painted chandelier…ok, there is still some paper towel stuffed in one of the light sockets

and it has no bulbs or shades but it is red…I’m sure my sweet hubby will get around to installing it in the bedroom that is being

remodeled!!! I have the bulbs and the light shades and won’t it be so cute…I sprayed it red and antiqued it a little…btw…got it at a

thrift store…  Yeeks the mold is back on the gutters…it does that on this porch since it is on the north side of the house…guess that

will have to go on my list to clean…

…details of the table topper/ doily thingy…

…before I snatched the ivy off the porch sides…I have to get it all off the porch soon…it is very damaging to brick mortar if allowed to grow there for very long…the roots of the ivy will grow through the mortar and destroy the mortar…of course the mortar is the “glue” that holds your bricks together.

In a few days I will take my hoe and pull it all off the bricks and chop it all back away from the house…then in a couple of years it will be back growing up the house again…

Ok…I’m through playing with these toys…think I’ll go make a pitcher of iced tea and find a nice fat juicy lemon and take a break from my “hard day of playing” :-)

Some Pretty Good Snaps…

Last year was my first summer with a real camera, my Canon Rebel and I didn’t think I would ever get better photos of flowers…until this year…I got a few snaps recently…they were not my flowers since the weather and the bugs have pretty well wreaked havoc with things around my house this year but I have enjoyed these snaps…

I love Calla Lilies so the Japanese Beetles decided to make them their first meal at my house this year!!!

Just wait till next year…I’ll get ‘em…and it won’t be pretty for the bugs!!!

Flowers From Wisconsin

Some sights in Wisconsin that I enjoyed…Hope you do also!!!

This the front of a lovely flower shop right next door to the hotel we stayed in …

Right outside on their sidewalk…it was closed when we were there but I sure enjoyed the eye candy!!!

I tried so hard to get a good shot of the top of this little metal gazebo…it was decorated with grapevines and purple tulle and giant green and aqua dragonflies…

Here is a better shot of one of the dragonflies!!!

The creativity of this display was amazing!!!

  It’s probably a good thing they weren’t open, we were in our pickup truck and flowers don’t travel well for nine hours in the wind but I sure would have loved to have a bunch of these…
